Default Carberator being rebuilt. Should I work on something while it's off?

Clean gas tank? Replace filter at valve? Clean fuel line?....

Can I measure compression while carb off?

Can I evaluate spark while carb off?

Wont run without carb, right? Sort of a newbie

Yes to all of the above. Could also check out points and other distributor stuff.

Do a thread search of "cleaning the gas tank".

Due nothing at all, sit and wait for carburetor to come back :-) maybe due some honey dues and get them out of the way? Or like others have said!
