Default Manifold/Carb ID on a 54 FACEBOOK PHOTO

This photo was just on Facebook of a beautiful 1954 Monterey. Can anyone advise what manifold and carburetor he has on this 256 engine?? Car belongs to a Pat Kelly according to the photo.

Is there any contact info? You would have to contact the poster to either ask or to show a photo of the install w/o the CHI-CON SLOPPY COPY ACL.

Is yours still the stock 256CI 4V DUALING EXHAUST?

I really can’t tell what I’m looking at on the manifold. It’s not engine color, but doesn’t really look like aluminum either. So maybe the oem cast iron painted silver?

To the best of my knowledge, which isn’t perfect, no one produced an aluminum 4 barrel manifold for the y blocks until the Blue Thunder. 2x3 and dual 4’s yes, but not single 4 barrels.

I know there are a few 2x3 out there with the small ports for the 239/256 engines.

I know, not much help.

How far do you want to go with modifications?

There was an EDELBROCK 4V intake available (F548). Might be hard to find one now. It had the square-bore bolt pattern so the CARB would have to be a WCB CARTER or an adapter to use a H4150 or FORD 4100.

The BEST thing to do (IMO) would be to go to a DUAL ADVANCE DIST (1957/ ) (w/ PERTRONIX II) and rid the engine of the LOAD-O-MATIC. It would make a huge difference without changing the OEM appearance much.

That ACL style is available BIRD or FORD repro -

K, thanks for the part number. Let me find an old post that identified it. No numbers here for the early dual quad though.

You are welcome. It all depends on how far he wants to go with it.

I am sure you are familiar with, well if I do this why not this too?
