Default Method for repairing 40 hood?

Checking in to see what is the best method to repair stripped out hood hinge bolt holes, on the hood side, of a 40 Ford Hood, noticed I have a couple that are stripped out and was wondering what has been the best method to tackle this, heli coil, weld in new piece? Etc.

Both of the ideas that you suggested are good.

nutserts they come in 1/4 x 20 or 1/4 x 28 ,I believe 1/4 x 28 is correct for your 40

There are a couple of practical ways to repair this for a lasting repair. Any type of insert would be on my list as "last". The problem with any type of insert is there is no shoulder.
I'd suggest removing that entire bracket from the hood and welding a new "nut" in place from the reverse side.
The "nut" can be made on a small lathe (shoulder inclusive) by and decent machinist.

Thanks Kube, the shoulder is the problem I'll try cutting the section out and repairing as mentioned

May I suggest drilling out the original nut .Weld a new nut to a fender washer [bolt the nut up tight with a bolt through the washer ,this keeps the nut centred and tight to the washer while welding] put the washer against the hood bracket with the nut side in the hole weld the washer to the hood bracket while holding it tight and lined up by the head of the bolt .remove the bolt a little touch up and bolt the hinge on.
