According to a thread on HAMB (by a member I know & vouch for), Mac's Antique Auto Parts has been sold to Eckler's.

What will that do to / for the quality of service on ordering?

Will they be keeping the same experienced staff that Mac had?

The same or better inventory? In stock?

Lots of questions I'll bet...

In a few years we will be saying "REMEMBER WHEN MAC TREATED US SO GOOD'' and then we can go back in the archives and look at all of the complaints we wrote about Macs before the buy out. The high shipping costs, long delivery time, poor quality, additional costs to have your orders processed first etc are some of the recent posts on threads about Macs.

I know nothing about Eklers. Maybe someone could tell us a little bit about there business.

I have had a few dealings with Ecklers and have been pleased with their service, nice friendly people, same as at Mac's-so hopefully we can say that in the future

I'll try to buy from the little guys whenever I can. The price might be a tad higher but it sure is nice to talk to the owner when there is an issue.I have built a nice re pore with a few small dealers and they go out of their way to make things right. Just my experience.
Regards, Don

Does anyone have a copy of the links/contact to the folks that used to advertise on the Fordbarn when Shelley owned it? I've lost a couple of contacts from a few venders, little guys you might say/call 'em, that I would love to order from again ....

Mark wish again,Quote," Hope that the prices don't go up."
I bought corvette parts from them(under $100.00) & they shipped UPS & still charged for insurance. UPS automatically insures for up to $100.00 last I heard. Buyer beware.

Hello Ford Barn--Darlene Waldmiller, Marketing Manager of MAC's, posting for Rick McIntosh of MAC’s:
Yes, MAC’s was acquired by Eckler’s as of today (11/1/12) however business as usual for MAC”s and are 120 employees in Lockport.
It the goal of both companies owners to “do no harm” to MAC’s or MAC’s employees all the while increasing our customers satisfaction.
Both Randy and I (owners of MAC’s) are also part owners of Eckler’s and we are not going anywhere. I am very excited, both personally and for MAC’s,
by the opportunity to join the Eckler’s team. We believe that our new combined company will bring together unsurpassed resources and experience to offer
an outstanding customer value and service experience. Our shipping time has been too slow of late, but we are working on that. We have recently
put in place a faster processing method to help move orders out the door more quickly. We believe we will be able to serve all Ford restoration
enthusiasts with the broadest, most complete selection of Ford parts available in the new combined company. We look forward to the opportunity
to continue to grow and broaden the company for our customers as part of the Eckler’s team.
Feel free to reach out to me ([email protected]) or Darlene ([email protected]) if you have questions, comments or concerns
about the acquisition or any customer service concerns.
Happy Motoring,
Rick McIntosh

If you read the post about the equities promo posted by Fibber McGee you will see that Ekler is heavily tied into Asian mfg. sources So good luck with Macs in the future, more imported stuff, not less.

Consolidation - by an equity company. Wonderful. Operated by bean counters, there are some economies of scale that they will use. Plus the brand awarenesss of Mac's, that is where the equity lies. Wander around SEMA and over the past 10 years, the off shore companies presence has grown, from tail lights to Mustang 2 front ends. I've seen this first hand, worked for two Fortune 25 corporations and seen the fall out of buy outs.
OK, back to flat motors...

I ordered some "in stock" parts from Mac's on Monday(10-29) morning and they
shipped Monday afternoon. That was quick.

X2....Ditto.....I also saw a lot of buyouts at the company I worked for. Some turned out to be good fits with our core business but many turned out to be total flops.

Mac's has the best service around. I was looking into becoming a dealer for other known Early Ford companies, and Macs is by far the best IMO. Thats why I am currently a MAC's dealer.

Wasn't that happy with Mac's before and definitely going to shop around in the future.
Customer service was iffy in my opinion.

While this seems to be a chance to express opinions I'll give mine---I was a Mac's dealer for a few years until I decided to write my book at which time I devoted as much time as possible to gathering data for the book and dropped my dealer activities. Today I am just another customer. The people at Mac's are the best from both a dealer and customer viewpoint.

None of us like change. We weren't happy when Shelly sold the Fordbarn, but we are still here. I have always been happy with Mac's and I hope it is just as good in the future. Time will tell.
