more F1 help please
got a couple things going on.
first can anyone tell me what the two switches to the far left are for ? there's a push button and a left to right toggle switch, the only switch that looks like a add on is the push/pull switch under he headlights, and im not sure where that goes, yet. next, the rubber stop inside the drivers side door is gone, and it looks like the door traveled to far and sprung the door, what's the best way to un-spring it ? and the "R" is lose, can anyone tell me how to tighten it up ? its got some weird looking clips on the inside, i messed with it but cant see how to tighten it. and i guess the steering box is straight forward hu ? i guess the plug in the top side in the picture is the fill ? it seams tight, no excess travel in the wheel, so im not taken it apart, just want to service it. what oil should i refill it with ? this ort to keep me busy for a day, thanks as always for the help, |

You can pick up the stops at National Parts Depot or Macs. The F1 service manual has info on adjusting doors usually you can find one on ebay or the places above(its worth the money)and STP works great in the steering box.

Re: more F1 help please
Sounds like you need to pick up a shop manual - it has answers to most of your questions. They're available on CD or paper reprints and are invaluable when rebuilding one of these trucks.
Chud got the switches. The small one under the light switch is inknown and not stock. As Fibber said, you can get new bumpers for the door. Adjustments was highly technical and covered in the manual. Use a 2x4 in the joint at the appropriate hinge or at the back edge of the door to adjust the fit. Seriously. To snug up the R, you can twist the keeper "nut" on the back while pushing it toward the panel. Hold pressure against the R at the same time. They just push on - and don't hold very tight usually. If you have a tight steering gearbox consider yourself a lucky man. It's one of the things that are usually worn out. Fill plug on top - no drain, you'll have to use a suction pump to remove most of the old lube. Heavy gear oil is what the manual calls for. |

Re: more F1 help please
I've used RTV or plain old silicon sealer to hold pesky loose emblems before. It keeps them from rattling and wearing out the stems & such. The clear type is the least noticable and a thorough wipping with paper towels will get most of the residue off anyway.

The starter button is hot all the time, even with the ignition switch off. Some added a cut off switch to the button as a safety device.

Elwood, I'm thinking the push/pull switch might be for the wipers. I believe that year was still vaccum wipers.
