That's a very good plan especially seeing your oil pump which is actually designed different as far as the outlet is concerned compared to the Ford US pumps.

Re: Remote oil filter fitting re size
I'm with Ronnie - given the pump design that you have, it is severely flow constricted to begin with - so it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to just "open up the downstream".
If you're going to be running this engine at higher RPMs (real performance application), you might consider a few "mods" to the pump casting to make it like the USA 49-53 pumps. Now, that is assuming the REST of the pump is like ours --- most importantly the pressure relief system (which I can't comment about in your case). Or, use a Ford 49-53 pump. Here is the outlet portion of the 49-53 casting: IMG_8780.jpg |

Re: Remote oil filter fitting re size
The WWII industrial 1942 Merc style engines had multiple styles of oil flow "redirection" plugs.
Here is one that came out of one of my engines - it uses a thin steel sleeve/pipe that is soldered into the brass fitting. The pipe diameter (ID) is just over 5/16" - a 3/8" bolt will not slide into it. The brass fitting used what appears to be 3/8" style AN compression fittings and I'm sure steel lines (which I don't have). IMG_8782.jpg I'm running a 100% full-flow system with a modified pump (oil line comes out the side of the pan, nothing through the pump body). I modified the horizontal outlet hole for 3/8" NPT and bored/drilled the oil passage behind it out a couple drill sizes. I don't remember how big I went, but it was probably about a 3/8" or so hole in the end. |

Re: Remote oil filter fitting re size
Some folks even plumbed the oil flow from the pump right out the side of the oil pan for full flow back in the day. Some folks still do that stuff for nostalgia competition builds. It requires pump mods too but it is a way to gain full flow.
