Default Is this an 'A'?

A fellow on FaceBook and I can't agree on whether this is a 30/31 Model A. I say no, he says yes.... Any opinions? (And if NOT, what is it?)

No gas cap on cowl pretty much marks it as non-A. What I can see of radiator shell look sorta Chev-like but I really have no clue.

A 1930 Chevy. The side hood vents and the wire wheels give it away.

Chevy was my first guess also. I was thinking about 1930, but not sure about the large hubcaps. Maybe later wheels were installed?

It is not a Chevy. The wheels and hubcap are wrong as is the visor. I owned a Chevy for years and this is not like it.

Smile Re: Is this an 'A'?

I've owned 2 1929 Chevy's, just sold one, through the years. And have been a member of the VCCA (Vintage Chevy Club of America) for many years too. I still say it is a '30 Chevy. Wire wheels became standard on Chevy's some time in 1930. They were 19" in '30 & '31, 18" in '32 & '33, 17" in '34, etc., etc. The various sizes of wire wheels could be retro fitted to early years. Like later Ford wire wheels on Model-A's. Body wise the '29 & '30 Chevy's were almost identical. Closed cars in '30 had a minor design change where the windshield angle was slanted back by around 15 degrees at the top. The car could possibly be a '29 (or '30) with later model wire wheels. From what is shown in the pic. The tires do look "fatter" then 19". 1929 Chevy's had one year only 20" wire wheels that were very similar to 21" Model-A wheels. Being Chevy's they had 6 bolt pattern lug nuts. I could very well be wrong on the make/year of the car in the old picture. But I believe it is a '30 Chevrolet

Thanks everyone for chipping in. Apparently Chevrolets and Hupmobiles looked a LOT alike around this time. Especially from the front..... I've no way of telling where this picture come from. I belong to 3 or 4 Facebook groups, 'Vintage Photos of Cars with Boats', '....Cars with Aircraft', '...Cars with Dogs', and even '...Cars in a Picnic Scene'. I think this pic came from that last group.
