Default truck beds

On a 1949 and 50 ford half ton was did one bed come with a wood floor and the other steel ? and how should the ser. # start Thanks for the help Steve

Yes, mid 1950 was the switch. early ones had the steel floor with wood underneath. The sides had stamped raised panels. also had a floor shifter. Late ones had a column shift, smooth bed sides and wood floor. These changes may have happened at different dates. Hard to say after 65 years.

serial prefix for both 49 and 50 start with 98RC or 97HC - the only way to tell which year is by the serial number itself.

if you have stampings on the firewall you can figure color, assembly plant and date of assembly

I thought the metal floor vs wood floor was a change made at a different time than the embossed side panels vs. straight bed panels?
