Re: 1940 Woodie dash .....
If the '40 is like other years, the dash is the same as in an open car -- not a coupe or sedan. The '40 woodies I know of have wood-grained dashes, but they're modified cars. The National Woodie Club is a great resource for info like this.

Both the Deluxe and Ford V8 model wagon panels were painted - just like the closed cars.

Re: 1940 Woodie dash .....
On the 40 Woodie, only the 3 metal garnish moldings around the windshield are wood grained.

At least ‘36 and older the didn’t even come with an inside mirror. The spot for it was dimpled so you could punch or drill holes for the mirror. They also came with only one tail light, just like the pickups. |

The 40 wagon dash on top is dark maroon. The garnish rails above it are woodgrained
in a darkish brown with a tiger tail pattern of small black stripes. Last edited by philipswanson; 06-28-2020 at 10:33 PM. |

Re: 1940 Woodie dash .....
My 40 Deluxe wagon never was that color on the lower portion. The upper is Monaida Maroon and the lower is Rose Sand. Again, the garnish rails are woodgrained with a tiger tail light stripping. I had that matched to the original woodgrain under the coat of paint that was on the surface that somebody sprayed over the woodgrain. The dash colors are available from Drake. Not exact but fairly close.

Re: 1940 Woodie dash .....
Yes! That is much closer. You can see the tiger tail pattern in the woodgraining that I mentioned. This is fairly correct. Mine is correct too except I painted my screw heads the same color as a personal touch. I really like your poster picture. That's pretty much what it should look like. My garnish rails are a little darker though which blend in a little better.
