New Tires for My New ‘35
The tires on my new to me ‘35 deluxe coupe are quite old Lester 6.00-16s and, based on what I’ve read here and elsewhere, would like to replace them with a new set of Excelsior Stahl radials. My question concerns the sizes. I like the ‘big and little’ look, so I’m thinking 5.50-16 on the front and 7.50-16 on the rear, all on the stock 4” wheel.
For those running these or similar on a 35/36 coupe, do the 7.50s fit OK on the rear? Thanks, Bobby Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks DD. Yes, the look is perfect, I just wanted to make sure there wouldn’t be any clearance issues. I’m laid up for a bit following some abdominal surgery so I can’t do the measuring right now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Never mind , I was looking at the height difference between the gloss car and the flat black . I now realize they both have big n littles . That's what happens when trying to feed the dog and post !

It looks like the 5.50/7.00 combo will be best for me, so that’s what I ordered. Looking forward to getting them on my car.

Re: New Tires for My New ‘35
I had 750 x 16 on rear, and 550 x 16 on front of my 35 fordor sedan (Avatar) for about 15-20k miles. These were radial tires purchased from Diamondback, and they were mounted on stock/original 4" wide 35 wire wheels. The rear tires did just very slightly rub the underside of fenders a few times during my travels. I'm also getting ready to purchase a set of Excelsior Stahl radials that will be installed on stock 35 wires. I plan to go with 700 for rear, and either 550 or 600 on front.

Different strokes for different folks. I for one prefer stock.

Re: New Tires for My New ‘35
Hard to tell in this picture but I went with 700s in back and 550s for the front, fit was fine for the rears. Wanted 750s but thought could have some issues with rubbing, looks like they work fine.

Re: New Tires for My New ‘35
To close the loop on this, I ordered the Excelsior radials directly from Coker in 7.00-16 & 5.50-16 and they fit the car very well, with plenty of clearance in the rear. I have yet to drive it with the new tires, but hope to do so this weekend after returning home from Pate. Thanks again for the recommendations and photos.
