1928-29 a400

I've been a Model A enthusiast for over 50 years now. I'm a Military Veteran, and came into some money via a VA claim for my back, which was damaged in service. I decided to use some of that money to buy a Model A. Originally I wanted to buy a 1930-31 Victoria, as I love that design. Instead, I bought a 1928 Tudor sedan that actually met my criteria, and was a great value for the money. After buying that car, I discovered the 1930-31 A400 model, and realized I should have held out for one of those! As most of you probably already know, the factory didn't make very many of those cars, especially considering the total number of Model A's built! I love the look of the A400 and got to thinking about how one would look as an earlier 1928-29 version. So, I crafted this image in Adobe Photoshop. I think it could have been a winner if only Ford had thought of it sooner!

Looks good. If they had made it, it probably would have been a lower number and by rights the letter comes after the number

That looks surprisingly good! Great job. I wish Ford had brought out the 400-A in 1928-29 looking like this. I actually think the lines look better than my real 1931 Convertible Sedan! The visor helps, too. I suppose someone with the right metal working skills, lots of time and deep pockets could convert a '28-29 Tudor into what you have created on paper. 'Sure would have been easier if Ford had done that for us back then and built it around a steel floor and cage so that the body wouldn't rot from inside, like original 400-A's do.

Ford had trouble competing with chevys 6 cylinder at this time- hence so many more body styles for 30-31.
the depression didnt help either, although in 1931 chevy had a banner year.
1929 was the big sales yr for the ford model A

I like it also. A couple of things that do catch my eye though, ...I think the back of the body needs the beltline dropped like the 31 body has which helps lower and streamline it a tad.

Also, instead of a white top, since it has Brown Leather seat covers I wonder what an artificial Brown pebbled leather (-think 60A body) would look like, -or maybe the Black on the 60B ...but whatever fabric would be used, I think covering the Visor in the same material.

(I wonder how Bronson & Seal w/ Orange wheels would have looked on a '29 Convertible Sedan?? )
