Default Big Thanks To Coop for some great parts

Here on the Barn there's many poster's who I truly enjoy following one of those poster's is V8COOPMAN. Recently I was fortunate to have the opportunity to talk with Coop which was a great experience. You never know ones story I can say I learned a lot talking with Coop he's certainly one of the good guys even with the bumps life has thrown in his way.
The attached photo shows the parts from Coop that now are in my care the effort involved in sending all of this half way across the country was no easy task. Thanks to the great friend's Coop has they made what seemed like near impossible possible they went out of their way to help a dear friend get this accomplished. Thank You Coop

Count me as well, feeling fortunate to call Coop a FRIEND, even though I have never met him. From our communications I KNOW we would hit it off. Great guy!

Ronnieroadster

I've been fortunate enough in all of my years to be able to partake in this wonderful hobby involving these old used cars. The time comes though when one must realize that health and age become an issue to deal with. My charming bride (whom I quite unexpectedly lost last February) had decided about two years ago that if anything ever happened to me, she wouldn't have had a clue as to what to do with the three "play" cars we had, as well as nearly sixty years worth of parts that I had hoarded, like many of us serious folks have stashed-away. Fortunately, the three cars went quickly to my best friend and his brother. Many of the parts also went to my best bud.

With the majority of my old crap now sent on its way, I still had a very few specialized and rare parts left which I advertised here on The 'Barn. Of all people, our very own "Ronnieroadster" (Ron San Giovanni in REAL life) finally nibbled at the bait. The main package that Ron was interested in consisted of a new, French flathead block and several other related parts. Of course, Ron lives in Connecticut and I'm northeast of Houston. There was no way that Ron could afford a trip down here with his busy schedule of building customer flattys, as well as prepping his "Race Roadster" for the upcoming year of serious speed activities at Bonneville, Maine and other events around the country. My health and physical condition precluded ANY prepping of any parts for shipping. Ron and I amicably came to an agreement on the sale if my buds here in the Houston area could gather my parts and build a secure crate to ship them to Ron. My best-est friends went above and beyond and had the stuff picked-up, crated and on the way with FASTENAL inside of about four days. (For any of you's guys contemplating shipping something big, FASTENAL is the 'nuts'!)

Ron turned-out to be one of the most-interesting folks that I have had the pleasure of talking with in ages. His interests go far beyond these "go-fast" flatheads and Arduns, and his knowledge and understanding of things 'mechanical' is WAY BEYOND most folks. He's got a dry sense of humor, and has been such a pleasure to deal with since this adventure began.

For the rest of you knuckleheads who have chimed-in on this thread, each and every one of you hold a special place within me and I can only say that my appreciation for your kudos is heartfelt. Wishing ALL of you a happy Holiday.

PS ..... For anyone that has a desire to get a feel for who Ron and his charming bride Laura really are, as well as a peek at Ron's amazing shop and a look into just how deep his knowledge goes, click the link for this video BELOW. The GOOD part starts about 2:10 into the video!

Ha ....! Round motors are about the only thing on Earth that sound better than a wailing flathead! And damn if they don't make a half-assed decent coffee table, to boot.

I gotta say that looks better than the flathead coffee tables I have seen. The exhaust ring makes a perfect base.

I also hafta ask : Is that yours?

Unfortunately, I hafta say: NO it ain't ..... (dammit).

But I surely have thought about building one at least half a dozen times over the years. Maybe NEXT time around.
