I believe the answer is "Yes". You need one for the 1940 Ford wheel so I assume the same is true of the 41.

See the holes for the wheel puller bolts on this wheel. Some folks beat, pry and pull on the wheel but the wheel may be damaged.

It´s quite hard to find the original tool, so i built a cheap
solution out of crap from my workshop, to remove my 1934 Steering wheel.
Just make sure that your downer lifting plate pressures on the steel.

Maybe it helps, good luck

Don’t mess about, if the wheel doesn’t come off with a couple of blows with a rubber mallet. Drill and tap the metal plate ( 1/4 unc) on wheel close to nut. Find an off cut of metal and drill corresponding holes, slacken wheel nut a few turns. Assemble two nuts on bolts. Screw bolts down to bottom out and then thighten nuts down evenly. I removed my model 48 wheel without damage in 20 minutes with this method. The metal plate on the wheel is about 1/4 inch thick, drill slowly and you will feel when you are about to break through, stop immediately or you drill through the wheel hub.

1940 wheels are drilled and tapped so I think 41's would be also. I made a strap from1/4" plate that would go in the recess. I don't know if a 41 is recessed. I drilled holes so I could bolt thru with all thread. Tightening the nuts forced the shaft out. Do NOT hit on the shaft. The wheel is not supported and you are jut hitting the bearings in the steering box.

I believe the '41 is drilled for a standard puller. Check with a few local auto parts stores to see if they have one to loan or rent. The one shown in post #3 is what you need to do for the earlier vehicles where the steering wheel was not drilled.

I just pulled mine ('41 Ford) today using a harmonic balancer puller (available at Harbour Freight for $13.99 https://www.harborfreight.com/bolt-t...set-62620.html
Be aware that the two bolt holes in the steering column are 5/16 standard fine thread. I scraped the dirt out with a tiny screwdriver and cleaned the threads with a tap. Bolts went in smooth as silk and it popped it off within a minute. Total elapsed time under 10 minutes

if there are no holes in the hub you can make a puller out of a c clamp. on the fixed end weld a u shaped piece of steel that fits over the collum & touches the bottom of the wheel i don,t know how to post picturs but i have made one it did not take long to do & it works great. if you look at the lower photo posted by nico73 you will see what i mean
