Where is all this going? Depends on who you ask. The answers will be as varied as each persons opinion. I’m dealing with the virus as I type this. Do I think the virus is a joke? Of course not. However, I do believe we have bit off our noses to spite our faces. The virus itself may have less affect on our demise than the decisions we have made trying to prevent us getting it. It started in China. It’s now global. The better question may be - where has all our common sense gone.

To get this back to cars, if any of you are into Cadillacs you may know who Dick Shappy is. If not here is a link. He owns the Cadillac Strip Club in Providence. He was interviewed in an article and was quoted as saying, They're trimming our tree. I've had the pleasure of meeting him once and seeing part of his collection.

Yes it is nice to have car events, live sports events with crowds and a country thats sort of at normality. However as a country we paid quite a large price to get here. As a country we suspended out personal liberties, income, congregation rights and way of life for the greater good of the country -and it was tough. Along the way countries like Sweden told us we would destroy our economy and herd immunity was the only way to go-We haven't and herd immunity has not worked there.

Frank mentioned selfishness in one of his posts- New Zealand largely suspended selfishness to battle COVID . Its not a political thing its an attitude thing and was embraced by people from all political orientations. I agree politics should be removed from any COVID response

Yes we have mitigating factors of size and being an island nation with easily closed borders and yes we have made (but corrected ) mistakes. Our total death toll is 25 from a population of 4 million.

Wishing you all a Merry and Safe Christmas from the bottom of the world

Karl

PS Santa gets here first and our Government has waived his requirement for 2 weeks managed isolation as the North Pole is COVID free !

My son has it. It's a fairly mild case, but there are many unknowns about long term effects. He is young, but it affects everyone differently. I don't want to get it and I wish he didn't have it. Keeping my fingers crossed and counting the days until I can get the vaccine. Probably about two more months.

To all you people screaming sacrifice you could not even keep your political opinions to yourself like I asked. I personally predict a long time before we have another V8 meet. Who in their right mind will put forth the work and dollar investment in an event that can be canceled on a whim or will not be heavily attended.
Anything requiring masks will not get my presence. I have a difficult enough time understanding people as it is. I'm actually getting a bit too content with the isolation. I tell people to just write me off as collateral damage to these policies.

As I see it, America has handed the government their subservience so enjoy driving those unsafe pollution emitting machines while you can because that right will be taken eventually.
