Default Help! 1959 Ranchero GVWR

Help! 1959 Ford Ranchero GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating)
Does anyone know the 59 Ranchero GVWR?
Or do you know books that has GVWR?
I look forward to hearing from those who are familiar with them.
Thank you.

I'm wondering if you'd like to know just for personal reasons, or do you need to provide an 'official' weight rating number for Title & Registration fee / taxation purposes?

Given a choice between slightly different numbers from multiple sources, a lower GVRW should (obviously) result in lower fees you need to pay.

Here is a google search link on the words "1959 Ranchero GVRW", hopefully it works for you.
https://www.google.com/search?q=1959...obile&ie=UTF-8

I glanced thru the first several websites and found the weight of the vehicle listed but did not notice a number for the vehicle plus payload, GVRW.

Perhaps another member on this forum has the information you need and can be more helpful.

I need gvwr in Japan to register my 59Ranchero.
I couldn't find it on the internet.
59 Chevy El Camino is mentioned in the Chevy pickup book,
but Ford Ranchero is not found...

The only place I can imagine to find that SPEC would be a 1959 FORD OWNERS MANUAL. Reprints are available.

Or, go here - http://www.ranchero.us/forum/index.php

Maybe someone there has a copy and will copy the page for you.

Thank you very much.

Here are two webpages...
The first one shows the vehicle weight as 3591 lbs | 1628.85 kg
I am not sure how accurate their information is. There may some incorrect information on the page.
It might or might not be helpful to get an actual weight on the Ranchero you have. Yours might weigh more than the listed weight.

This next link is a copy of a 1959 Ranchero sales brochure. On page 3 the payload weight as listed as 1100 pounds. The printing date on this brochure is September of '58 and with advance printing deadlines the information pre-dates the actual vehicle production and may have changed after production begfan.

So sounds like 4,691 should be close enough for the GVWR.

Post Re: Help! 1959 Ranchero GVWR

Close enough only works in horse shoes, hand grenades and thermonuclear warfare.

They (DMV) most likely want to register it as a truck and need the documented rating to assign the correct weight rated tags to it.

ADDENDUM - I looked through a 57 FORD CAR owners manual and there is no mention of GVW or GVWR. It has to be in the 1959 FORD TRUCK SPECIFICATIONS LISTING.

GVWR includes empty weight, passenger weight, fuel weight, and bed weight. That 1,100 lb load rating added to the vehicle weight should be pretty close. The Ranchero cars were not a 1/2-ton pickup. They were more like 3/8-ton. I learned that the hard way with my old elCamino.
