Spark & Throttle Levers question
I cannot seem to get my throttle lever to work the accel linkage. Are the ends of the spark & gas control levers supposed to point on different directions?
These would be loacted on the seering column near the starter (just for clarity) The spark points front wards and the gas backwards is that correct? i can't seem to find any pictures of this area either. Thanks guys http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/images...es/biggrin.gif |

Re: Spark & Throttle Levers question
Thanks Bob...good picture too..well apparently i'll have to do some adjusting of the accel linkage arm. My rod goes OVER the starter rod like the picture but when i move the lever at the steering wheel the linkage pushes back not forward towards the block.

Re: Spark & Throttle Levers question
An easy way to remember which direction the levers face is, "installing them is RIGHT UP your alley". The right side one is up.
You pull the spark lever DOWN for driving. The spark lever faces down. |

Re: Spark & Throttle Levers question
The throttle rod in Bob's photo is bent to clear the starter rod... it should be straight

Re: Spark & Throttle Levers question
Thanks Tom...clearer picture...I have a feeling that my gas pedal rod is bent toward the floorboard and it's pulling the bell crank on the linkage forward too.. In your pic it appears to be connected right at the block (almost) which i think would offer a better range of motion. Mine is connected almost touching the front of the firewall panel, wow

Re: Spark & Throttle Levers question
Hi Katy, yes i'm starting the car with both levers up (spark lever a couple of clicks down, cuz that's where it starts the best). The throttle lever doesn't mater right now since it does not move the gas pedal when i move the lever.

Re: Spark & Throttle Levers question
Also after having a handful of rod sets from swap meets - some aftermarket rods are 1/4" longer some 1/4" shorter than factory. threw me for a loop when nothing seemed to line up and the steering column tube was tilted to 11 almost 10 o clock.
