1932 Ford Vicky
1932 Ford Victoria with a winter front for sale at auction next Thursday in South Dakota. Looks like it's sat outside for a while?

Re: 1932 Ford Vicky
Pictures? I would love to have a '32 Victoria. I fell in love with the body style when I was in college in Duluth, Minnesota in 1961. There was a scrap yard with a bunch of cars stacked one upon another, and at the top of the nearest pile was a Model "A" Victoria. I fell in love with the body style then and there; the only thing that would be better would be a '32. A few years later, a local guy had an SBC powered '32 "Vicky", and I knew my taste was right on.

. Hey Denny, the '32 that Pete just posted pictures of, is prolly the one Krylon is talking about, as the auction is next Thursday at 11 am. This auction is about 60 miles straight west of me. If you want to go to it, let me know, I'd go with ya. PS, I'll even give ya a ride in my '67 Cobra, if you swing down here. .

Man, that might even be a real '32 engine in it. Looks like real '32 heads and probably an aluminum oil pan? DD |

Re: 1932 Ford Vicky
It looks very restorable to me from the limited photos, but I'm no fan of '32 Victorias as I think that the overall proportions are cramped for want of a longer wheelbase chassis mostly devoted to a longer hood. Its sister Victoria, the Lincoln KA version with the same body lines comes off perfectly proportioned with 29" more wheel base.
In addition to the aluminum oil pan and '32-only left side exhaust manifold, it appears to have its original '32-only distributor. The missing garnish molding on the right side could be a real challenge to replace as it is unique to Victorias and B-400s, but a skilled metal smith could likely make one up from the Tudor sedan version. If the quarter window moldings are gone, that would be a far greater challenge. Too bad that there is no photo of the floor in the rear of the body as that would be the clincher in determining its restoration potential. Last edited by DavidG; 09-05-2020 at 04:31 AM. |

Re: 1932 Ford Vicky
I have fixed WAY worse. Looks solid to me. I have sold a couple of tudor door sets of garnish moldings that were destined to be cut down for a Victoria.

Re: 1932 Ford Vicky
I agree with DavidG above. The "proportions" or lack thereof leave much to be desired. Given its 'bustle back', I never could understand the popularity of this body design....

Re: 1932 Ford Vicky
As I recall there's lots of wood in the floor of those Vickys. Don't have any idea if there is someone out there that makes it.

Re: 1932 Ford Vicky
My deuce Vicky had a steel floor and sub rails but I did an A Vicky for a customer and it had wood sills. If this Vicky looks rough we made mine out of 3 bodies. When it was done you couldn't tell.

Re: 1932 Ford Vicky
I drove out to have a look today, but it was raining pretty good, and there
is a good chance for rain on Thursday too. All the vehicles are in Bob's cattle pasture, so Don't wear your Sunday shoes, better bring a pair of "shit kickers" with. Bob let me go in the pasture and have a closer look, but the rain made it kinda tough to take many pictures, camera got wet pretty quick. When I got home, I took my shoes off in the entry way, but my wife yelled at me and said, "you been out in some ones barn? or what" I shoulda looked where I was walking better, I musta stepped in a few pies. .

I have been considering your offer; it sure is tempting. However, given a chance of rain and the fact that I may just be tempted to spend money I don't have on something I don't need leads me to the regrettable decision that I will have to pass on your generous offer. Hopefully, some other time. Denny |
