Default Speedo turtle?

I am going to fit 16x7" tyres to the rear of my cabriolet and according to the chart I need a 20 tooth turtle for the speedo drive.Ive searched all the usual places but can't seem to locate any suppliers.Does anyone know if they are available and if so where.Average speed cameras are popping up all over the place and they do not allow any leeway, so I need an accurate speedometer.

If you want to be accurate then buy a small GPS speedo and stick it in the corner of your windscreen for spot on accuracy. Then you can leave the original speedo as is. Regards, Kevin.

Henry, I know you are in the UK, but I've had great luck getting the "turtle" I've needed from CharlieNY. And, he's a great guy to deal with. Not sure about the cost of shipping it to you, however.

Dick.

Yes I agree with Koates. I got one of these off Ali express for 20 to 30 odd bucks. All i did was get a usb jack point and mount it under the dash and wired it fused through the ignition switch. If you want to you can use your ciggy lighter. These units run on 5-6v also. I also bought a generic suction holder so I could clamp it to the windscreen. These have a function so you can run it at either mph or kph. It also has a distance travelled function but only for each trip you do until you switch off you engine. I've wired it to the ignition so that it doesn't drain the battery.

Here's a pic of mine and the link for ali express

Thanks for the suggestions ....Id like to keep things original if at all possible and switching the turtle would be the best option.I have thought about fitting a hideaway GPS type unit but that remains plan B.

Dick, who/ where is CharlieNY?

Henry, that's Charlie Schwendler in Orchard Park, NY. His email is [email protected].

Phone is (716)662-9159 (in USA of course.) Charlie rebuilds carbs, transmissions, and has a wealth of parts. He posts here on the Ford Barn and I think I have his user name correctly stated.

Good luck ....Dick.

If you just want to check your speed then mark it of in your head (lets say your speedo says your doing 50, but your doing 55) you can download free phone apps that use gps to give you mph. One free one is speedometer.
