Question Strange place for OIL leak

Yesterday I was asked to look at a club members engine because of an oil leak. His oil leak is seeping from the head gasket on the DRIVERS side. Pretty much from number two cylinder to number four. Not a lot of oil but a light thin line. No other areas indicating oil seepage. Question is, how is the oil seeping from this area. No burning of oil from the exhaust. Thanks in advance for any ideas. Probably dirty antifreeze. It can feel very oily.

Without seeing it first-hand, my instinct is that it is in the beginning stages of a blown headgasket, ...and what you are seeing is carbon from spent combustion gasses. I would first try to re-torque the head nuts to 55# in the proper sequence and notice how tension they have. Unfortunately, when symptoms like this surface, it means the head and/or block needs to be surfaced.
