Default 48 coupe---This Thing Works !

I got this stud remover on Ebay because I couldn't get any of the head studs to budge. They're so tight, it's hard to imagine any other tool that would work as well, if at all.
Mac tools are amongthe best in my opinion. I wouldn't trust a cheepie tool that looks like this one for fear it'd just break due to the heavy load needed to back the studs out. Happily, this one did the job.

That looks like to old faithful Craftsman remover that has been around forever, What I like about them is that you can often reuse the stud. Goes hand and hand with heating and cooling the studs.

Hi Everyone, I know I've got one of those somewhere that I inherited from my dad. I really should find it and put it in a good spot. It looks like a real life-saver!

I have used one of those with mixed success. Heat the stud and block around it, then melt wax and let it run down into the threads. It helps.

I used one in 1961 to remove the studs from a '41 Merc. They all came out no problem. Looking back, I thought I must have been awfully lucky (and they had been in there "only" twenty years). After reading this, I'm glad I still have it. Mine's a "Craftsmen", too.

I've had one (Craftsman) that I purchased back in the 50s I think. It works, but on a resent teardown I used a different one that worked much better.

I've had a Craftsman one I bought in the 70's. Still have it. Works pretty good.

I was using one at an engine shop and I don't remember the brand, Snapon most likley. It was nice to use! The Craftsman works, but the higher quality ones are noticeably better.

I have the old Snap On collet type stud remover set. It has a collet for each size and TPI thread of most general use studs in fractional sizes. When you tighten that big collet up it will really grip those things. Takes them out without buggerin the shank up. When I first used one I was skeptical that it would grip but after a few hundred stud removals there is no question anymore.

That sounds like what I was referring to.

I have had one of them for many years, can't remember the brand but think it is probably Craftsman as well. I haven't needed or use it in many years but it did work very well.

I bought a pickle bar of a guy who was getting older and no longer interested in flatheads and he gave me a stud remover and other stuff too , which was great timing as I need one. Don't know what brand it is but boy does it bite! I managed to remove all but one, and that one didn't even feel like it was going to break.. I found the best way was to load the breaker bar and just hold it around 15 seconds back off go again then if it hasn't gone move the stud remover to a different position, don't force it and be careful as you have to consider the angles you're working on too ( that's really the short version)
