Ive decided to pull my stuck 292.Is it easier to pull together with tranny and seperate later or seperate and just pull engine? Thanks

I find it easier to remove/reinstall the engine and trans as a unit.

THANKS,Dobie I know ive been asking a lot of questionsbut im bummed out about getting water in the engine when it was covered with a "waterproff" car cover!

On my '71 F100, it certainly was easier to pull the engine & transmission as a unit. After trying for several hours to get just the transmission out, gave up and decided to pull the engine & transmission as a unit. Had everything out in less than 30 minutes. Went back in as a unit also!

If its a 56 Bird I would separate it at the bell housing, if its a car I would pull it as a unit.

If you can separate them and pull the engine by itself it's easier getting the engine over the bodywork.
OR...
Disconnecting the trans from the engine is easier after it's out, instead of having the car on jack stands and working on your back while dropping crud in your eyes.

My trans needed work too so I pulled them together. I preferred not having to wrestle with the trans where it's harder to get at.
It can be done either way. Having helpers is a very good thing.
The engine will be a fair ways up in the air and to avoid swinging that much weight around I placed the hoist and didn't move it, but rolled the car backward out from under the engine as it came up.

Its a 56 Victoria and the front clip will be removed!

Then definitely remove and reinstall the engine and trans together. It's a lot easier to attach the trans to the engine when you can go straight in with the input shaft instead of having to duck hook the engine into the engine bay while trying to line it up with the trans.
