Attention Texas!
Hey Texans, my buddy and I are driving my Model A across the country and will be going through Texas real soon, if anyone would like to meet us, talk about cars, or if anyone has a place we could throw our tents of for the night, please feel free to contact me. We could also play you some oldtime fiddle music!
Here is our rough route, if anyone is anywhere vaguely on the way or in the towns listed, we'd tailot our trip accordingly. We are in Roswell, NM today, heading towards Hobbs, NM, then on towards San Angelo, then to Austin, then possibly Crockett, and on into Louisiana towards Lafayette. Call me up if you'd like, and also check out my journal about the trip, linked right below. -Sean 925 705 2308 or Lane 209 606 7029

Re: Attention Texas!
unfortunately we are no where near your route.
Be advised that traffic in and around Austin is nothing less than brutal It doesn't sound like you are gonna be using I-35 but if you do there is a ton of construction in that area There are two clubs nearby where you are going let's hope somebody from there chimes in; maybe Fred Carlton will see this http://www.hemmings.com/clubs/search Have fun!!!!

Re: Attention Texas!
I am in Van, Texas. Probably somewhere north of your proposed route. But if you do come this way we have plenty of room to pitch a tent and will throw in a good home cooked meal. ken

Re: Attention Texas!
Thanks for the offer guys! Currently in Seminole at 11:00PM looking for a place to camp, had to switch out a bad water pump and lost some miles/time.

P.S. For anyone along our route, we're in need of a new fan, ours is falling apart :O

Re: Attention Texas!
Don't drive with a fan that's falling apart. It will cause more damage than you could possibly think when it comes apart. Could potentially put your trip on a major hault, and can be very very dangerous if it comes apart and you're standing around it when it lets go.

Re: Attention Texas!
Thanks everyone, yes i'm aware of what the risks are with a loose fan, just not much I could have done in the middle of nowhere at night. Ended up getting to San Angelo and meeting up with some great folks and got a brand new 4-blade installed. But! Soon found out after the car running strangely that 4th cylinder has pretty low compression so we're pulling the head tomorrow. Wish me luck on getting the thinf off, it's never been off since i've had it and i've heard some horror stories of stuck heads, i'll do my best to pull it off carefully. Should be in Austin by Sunday or Monday if all goes well.

Re: Attention Texas!
If you make Crockett, you must stop in at the Camp Street Cafe and say hello to the Gillette brothers. Top-notch musicians, they will love your fiddle. It's also Lightning Hopkins home town, I believe.
