FWIW: No end to overall garage layout ideas.

Easy to double floor space by extending upwards with 1-1/2 stories thus adding lots of attic space while being connected to first floor area with a fixed ship ladder which takes up less floor area on both floors.

I am planning to add a open loft space. Should be enough room to store all the spare parts and such.

That's what mine is and the second story really comes in handy with the built in shelves, outside dimensions are 42 ft. wide and 24ft. deep with post and bean pole barn construction, upstairs with the ship ladder construction is 24 x 24 with an additional outside loading door. Built it in 1980.

A couple of questions for you David M. What height are your walls and to the top of the roof? And what brand is your lift / are you happy with it?

My walls are 10 feet with 9 ft. doors
Mt lift goes up between the trusses.
Roof trusses are on 10 ft. centers.
I will have to check on the exact make of the lift. It actually works very well. I picked it up at the dealer in Knoxville Tennessee. These are the same lifts that are used in garages and dealerships.
