NOS 49 Ford luggage compartment lamp

I have a NOS 49 Ford luggage compartment lamp and need instructions to install it correctly ,as original. I can't figure out what turns the light on....any help would be appreciated

If I recall, there is a mercury switch that makes contact when the switch orientation changes with raising the trunk lid.

I agree with above. they were used in later year cars also.
