OK, let’s try this another way - does anyone have any old 40-41 pickup bed chains they would be willing to part with?

This is what I am doing about the bed chains and if I have to make the hook, I will. I had one complete chain on the driver side, and just 2 chain links on the other. With some galvanized same sized chain and some screw links (for want of a better term), I made up the one side.

Still looking for the one hook and some bicycle inner tube ....

Those tail gate chains are reproduced in exact detail, with hooks. The chain covers are also reproduced if push comes to shove. I used a reproduction bed myself. Sorry I can't help on a used hook. I'd say any good hardware place would have the hooks.

No chains or hooks but I have a pair of chain covers that you can have for postage. I'm guessing that's what you want the inner-tubes for. They are a little dusty and creased from the chain's loop but otherwise in good shape.

Tom: Mack Hills in Missouri shows the correct hook. Even if it wasn't quite the same you could replace both as they are cheap.

Thank you 38bill - I will take them as that was what I was going to use the inner tubes for. I have sent you a message with my address and just let me know what the postage is.

Thanks, Gary - most of the vendors only show complete chain sets, not singular pieces but I will check them out ...

Thanks, Lawson - since I only needed one hook and everything else is pretty old, a new set of chains would not have the “look” I am after .....

All the best,
