Default Front turn signals

Thinking ahead to when I install turn signals. I read several threads extolling the virtues of cowl lamps, amber bulbs in the headlight, and new lights between the bumper bars. Has anyone ever attached a small light below the headlight? This would probably entail putting the horn inside the engine compartment. I am envisioning a small light less than 3" in diameter, not the top-of-fender lights like on a 1940s-50s pickup. Thoughts?

I kept the original look by using the cowl lamps as front turn signals, never used the cowl
lamps as parking lights anyway. (used L.E.D.'s out back).

BTW, 6 Volt power.

X2 on using the cowl lights. Amber LED bulb behind clear lenses.

I use parks and cowls. Some though have used vintage looking lamps mounted in various places.

I use the parking lamps in the headlights with amber bulbs. I suppose I could also use my cowl lights as I already have amber lenses.

I used extra license plate clamps and bought 2" amber beehive lights and installed them on the headlight bar. Looks retro and works good. No extra holes in the cowl of fenders. The lights came with 12V bulbs, so i replaced with 6 volt.

I am with JV. Cowl lamps with LED bulbs. Bright and original looking. In my opinion, the best turn indicators are the brightest and easiest to see. Safety first. For that reason I don't like the small lights that are on the bumpers.

With both 2 bulb headlights and cowl lights you can use one set for parking and the other for signals.

I think the original reason for parking lights were to protect the car that was parked along the side of a dark road. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Gone by the way of spats! I'm going to rewire my headlight circuit to use the parking light bulb as a turn signal in front.

I recently purchased a Model A that had directional lights using the small rectangular lights that go between the bumper bars. They used a Signalstat 900 system. They didn't work and it was virtually impossible to trouble shoot because the previous owner used wire all of the same color. My first recommendation is to follow the color coding shown by the manufacturer or makeup a color scheme and make a schematic for future troubleshooting. The other advantage of using the rectangular lights in the bumper is that they are completely independent of the original Model A wiring, no splicing. The system can be removed without disturbing the original system. It is very nice to have when driving, other drivers do not recognize the old hand signals. Ed

I like those. Never heard the term 'beehive lights'. Where do you buy them.

The amber bulb in the headlight works ok with the headlights off but is very hard to see when the headlights are on.

I used the small clearance lamps for mine and wired them with their own circuit.

Installed the LOGO Lites I purchased from Snyders. Took about 4 hours clock time. These are the LED lites that mount between the bumper bars. Slick system They work great. Easy to install. Real bright even with a 6 volt generator system. Non-invasive install - no drilled holes required.

That's simply not true. The entire top of my reflector turns amber when the turn signal is on. But I will admit a 12v amber 1156 bulb is pretty bright.
