Source for touch up paint
Does anybody have a recommended source for touch up paint. I need Vinyard Green (1935). I don't want to buy $100 worth if I don't have to. Tks. Jim in San Jose

If you want paint that actually matches, you'll need to take the car or a piece of the car to an automotive paint supplier and have them match it. If you don't care if it matches all that well, and want to get by "cheap", I'd suggest you go to Hobby Lobby.

Re: Source for touch up paint
I know you said you don't want "to buy $100 worth". I said the same thing, but after a thorough search, this was the best I could find, for my 53' Merc, Yosemite Yellow. It is a perfect match though.
I have talked to guys that have paid $1,000 or more for a gallon. I even tried my local paint shop supplier and they were more, and on top of it didn't have the correct formula anyway. They were going to have to scan the car for a match. Good luck with your search. |

To get a perfect match, I can't imagine getting it "off the shelf". There are far too many variables involved.

Re: Source for touch up paint
Thanks everybody. I guess I am off to the paint store with the spare tire cover. I sure wish I had asked the painter to save some for me. Jim in San Jose

Re: Source for touch up paint
I just spent $25 for a 6 oz spray can on eBay...... which did match perfectly.
Local auto paint supplier wants you to buy a pint, which corresponds to I believe 3 full size spray cans. That's their minimum. This stuff ain't cheap by any means now. |

Re: Source for touch up paint
Even if the painter saved some it would be dried out. Best bet is to go back to the painter for more paint.

Re: Source for touch up paint
My local NAPA store has a color scanner and a paint guy who mixes touchup paint. I think both the scanner and the paint guy are color blind. Not even close! I have had good luck with TCP Global. My most recent purchase for a quart was well over $100 including shipping so that's what you're faced with. I will say the match was perfect. So bite the bullet, buy the paint from TCP Global and one of their air brushes and you're good to go.
