Hi ,
I have used them on two of my vehicles ( 34 and 38 pickups) They worked well for me. Having said that ,I used the traditional seal in my 35 and did 10,000 miles in it without a leak. The cork does work.
On my most recent project ,a 48 Merc, I have used some viton tube I bought on ebay. Not the blue one. Time will tell how that works.

I used one on my 40 with no problems in 2017. So far, no problems.

I made my own using plastic tubing of the right diameter. I joined the ends together with a small spring that fit snugly inside the tubing. Check to be sure it's oil resistant.

I used vacuum hose, put the joint at 12 o'clock. Dawn soap makes it slide together easy

Never used one of those, although it does look easier than the cork. But I’ve never had a problem with cork and a little rtv to join the pieces.
