Default Model A Instruction Book - In French!

Does anyone have a copy of the Model A Instruction Book (owner's manual) that was originally printed in French?

I'm trying to find a copy for a new Model A owner that does not speak hardly any English, only French.

A copy is good. A scan is better. Anything to help this guy.

Thanks!

Try Jordan Beller in Romeoville, Il. He has quite a collection and may make you a copy.

Hi Jim -
I have a few different ones that I can scan for you. Any particular date that is preferable?

Jim,
Brad in Germany might have some. He is probably still at Hershey, but should be home soon as Hershey ends today.

I second checking with Jordon Beller, The Beller Museum, Romeoville, IL. Jordon is at Hershey now.

Bonjour Jim,

I'd be glad to help your French Model A contact. I speak French fluently and travel often to France. I was even a member of the "Club Obsolete Ford France" back in the day.....now called "Ford Amical France" ( http://www.ford-amical-france.fr/club.htm) and I recently helped with the presentation on French Model A's at the MARC national meet in Gettysburg.

Anyway, about the Model A owner's manuals in French, or "Manuel d'Entretien":
Like in the US, there were many different versions which can be easily distinguished by the date listed on the bottom of the last page. Here are the dates that I have found so far:

10-28
11-28
1-29
4-29
7-29
4-30
no-date 1930
3-31

Each date is preceded by a number which indicates the quantity of manuals with that date which were printed. After the date is the the name of the printer. Here is an example:

So in this above example, there were 3500 owners manual printed in October 1928 and they were printed by Mary. in Paris Asnière (the same location as the Ford assembly plant in France).

I'd be more than happy to help out your French Model A contact and suggest that you send me his contact information via PM if he/she would be agreeable.

à bientôt,
Brad in Maryland
