Anal trunk spare tire bracket fasteners question
This is a detailed question that most Fordbarners probably don't care about, so people that don't care can just ignore this post and stop reading. I was looking through the Mar/April 2016 issue of Model A News and noticed a one page article written by Rick Nance that was about Crowners originally used on 28 and 29 coupes and roadsters to reduce the chance the spare tire could be "liberate". Anyway, there is a picture in the lower right corner that shows the crowner installed, but also shows the vertical spare tire support. My question is: I had always thought the vertical bracket was riveted to the rear body crossmember. Rick's coupe has machine screws and square nuts used instead of rivets. I think Rick's coupe was restored to fine point status, so I would assume it might be correct. I don't have Rick Nance's email or I would ask him about the fasteners. I suppose various assembly plants could have installed the bracket in different ways. I would like to install the bracket like Ford specified on my 28 coupe. If anyone knows the way Ford specified how the vertical spare tire bracket is fastened to the rear body crossmember, I would appreciate you responding.

Re: Anal trunk spare tire bracket fasteners question
Rusty,
The ones on my mid-August Roadster were riveted...and it will go back that way. |
