Could be water in the oil.

Mud???? Where is it coming from? What makes you call it mud? You need to give details and preferably pics or all you're going to get is a bunch of wild guesses which are useless.

If you're talking about the cooling system, I can understand. Sounds like you car has been run on water for quite awhile.

You can take the side hose connector off and clean around the rear 2 cylinders. You'll probably get a lot out of there.

well it looks like mud coming out of the drains and up at the opening to the rad.

just flushed the engine out, rad out and all water now looks "clear" as it did last summer.
I will run it some and see if it continues or clears up. When I bought the car, the daughter of the owner, who is now 75, said the car often overheated. Never had a better running motor. I have checked the oil and dont see any water........

wonder if the guy over packed the bearings with grease and this is the result?

I will try and get a photo or two.

I would agree- but the car came from VT and was full of antifreeze when I got it. I drained it over the winter and left it empty. will fill with anti for this winter.

Some Quick lub places pump grease until it falls on the ground, maybe they pumped grease until they run out of grease?

I got a whole bunch of cooked corn out of my radiator....and engine. Chipmunks had used the radiator for food storage one winter when I left the radiator open in the garage. Ugh. Finally got it all out and now I can run without overheating.

My A's radiator was like that when I resurrected it from a 30 year slumber by Dad was responsible for. He had stored it with straight water in the radiator (heated garage). All that sludge and crap had dried up. Rad works perfect but I am still working to get it completely clear.
