Default 3 speed column gearshifi

can any one tell me how to adjust this? difficulty getting stick to come up far enough to engage 1st and reverse thanks

Disconnect the two shift rods at the transmission. The transmission must be in neutral.
Place the two "arms" beneath the hood parallel with one another and at the 3 o'clock position. It is imperative that these arms remain parallel.
Working beneath the car, adjust each rod so it fits over the shift arm without interference.
That's it.

Of course, prior to making any adjustments, you must be certain that the bushings both at each end of the two rods are still in good shape. If they are worn, you won't have much success with adjusting.
Also, check the shift forks on the transmission side cover. If they are worn they must be replaced for proper operation.
