Re: 1941 Ford pickup seat
I finally bit the bullet and put a Glide Engineering seat in mt '39 p/u. Not cheap but much more comfortable. IMO

I use one of these in my '41 Merc. Huge difference! Not cheap but absolutely fixes the seating /sore back problem. Terry

Re: 1941 Ford pickup seat
I have used the third seat out of a Chevy Suburban, 92-97, Dodge Caravan 3rd seats (or similar). I do not build stock restorations but they can be upholstered to look just like the stock seats ....
The pics are from my present 40 pickup I am building for my wife - seat is out of a 92-93 suburban .... sorry the second pic is sideways and I do not know why ... |

Re: 1941 Ford pickup seat
Before spending more $$$, remove the seat cushion and stuff each and every coil with carpet padding foam. Cut a piece of foam to the proper length (of the respective coil). Usually about an 18" run, roll it up and push it in. You will be amazed at the difference.

Re: 1941 Ford pickup seat
I basically did this to my stock seat. I also added a little extra foam in the lower back for some lumbar support and that made a huge difference.

Re: 1941 Ford pickup seat
This sounds like a excellent idea Mike, I am too much a purist to install a van seat but my 36 pickup is very uncomfortable.. .

Re: 1941 Ford pickup seat
Unless I have mint springs (rare these days) I do this within all of my restorations. Easy to accomplish, reasonable and no one will ever know.

Re: 1941 Ford pickup seat
I used the carpet pad roll system in the seat of my '39 coupe years ago, yes it will cure a "saggy" seat!
