Default Adjusting 34 Roadster doors

I need to move the drivers door forward a couple of mm and thought of inserting a packer behind the hinge plates that screw onto the frame but seems two screws on each plate come out easily and are wood screws the other two are more semi round head and though loosened go round and round and won’t come out.
What am I missing thanks.

The hex nuts are likely spinning because they evidently lack the original formed steel plates that served to prevent the nuts and lock washers from digging into the wood and loosening up as a result.

Two wood screws and two machine screws with nuts is how they should be .

The steel plates DavidG mentions are sheet metal strips with a lip to hold the nuts .

If you are starting fresh with new wood use the two machine screws ONLY until all fits good . The holes for them are slightly oversize and this is your adjustment .

The two wood screws anchor it .
