Insurance?
What auto insurance is the majority choice? I chose Grundy Worldwide because there is no mileage limit, Cost-$250 a year with $300,000 liability. I know others are paying $175 with limited mileage.

Re: Insurance?
I have Hagerty. For 5 Model A's the premium is $473/yr and that includes roadside service (first 50 mile for flatbed service) and a total agreed value on all 5 model A's $85,000.

Re: Insurance?
I was with State Farm, back in August I pretty much talked to every company out there and landed with Hagerty....here are the differences...
Went from a $15K "actual value" policy with SF to a $25K "agreed value" Policy...in my opinion the "agreed value" is one of the most important aspects of a policy, SF does not even offer that option and many companies are the same. With an "actual value" policy you are not guaranteed to get that amount, with "agreed value" you are. With SF I had $100 deductible on Collision and $250 on Comprehensive, with Hagerty both are $0 With SF my annual mileage limit was 1500 with Hagerty it is 3500 With SF my roadside assistance was within 10 miles of my home with Hagerty it is 50 miles With SF I had $500 in spare part coverage, with Hagerty it is $750 And probably most important they were very clear on how and where I can drive the car...with SF they were very "wishy washy' at best. The annual difference in cost...went from $110 to $185 Nick

Re: Insurance?
Insurance regulations and requirements vary from state to state. Answers here are apples to oranges.

Re: Insurance?
I would agree that regs differ but that really pertains to financial coverages, personal injury limits, uninsured motorists, medical payments, etc. Things like "actual value" and "agreed value", limits, how you can drive your car, deductibles, etc. are set by the company and IMO are what's important, you will automatically get the financial coverages you need based on the state you live in regardless of the company you deal with.

Re: Insurance?
Have both Grundy and Haggerty. Both good. Not really much difference. Grundy was ten bucks a year cheaper on the Model A than Haggerty, not enough difference to fret over. And yes, state by state and location plays all the difference. Hard to compare someone living in rural Missouri to a person living on Long Island it doesn't work!
Pick either and you will be happy. |

Re: Insurance?
the majority are underinsured on agreed value and just dont get it. the cost of the premium is all that matters to some

Re: Insurance?
Disconnect the odometer cable, at least for a while and maybe use GPS to keep a check on your speed.

Re: Insurance?
JC Taylor for me. I bought two more cars and I didn't need more liability. I guess you can only drive two at a time!

Re: Insurance?
Insurance for me is in line with lawyers and used car sales men. You all can figure the relationship. They seem to say what you want to hear. What Nabco states "And probably most important they were very clear on how and where I can drive the car...with SF they were very "wishy washy' at best". I see that as a disadvantage because if you want to go down to the local "Convenience" store for a gal. of milk, and get in an accident, you probably won't be covered as it is not considered a club function. Most companies list such things as parades, club planned trips, or other CLUB functions. I don't see any companies not setting these limitations.

Re: Insurance?
Hagerty is pretty liberal in their stated limitations, although they do use the phrase " flexible use" in their guidelines. I've never made a claim and not ever really considered where I was driving to in regards to my insurance policy.

Re: Insurance?
I asked the State Farm underwriter (and it was hard to get to an underwriter) and specifically asked if I could drive the car to get ice cream or pick up some milk and they said I could not....asked Hagerty the same question and they said I could....their response was we want our policy holders to drive their cars to promote the hobby so they get more customers....makes sense...
My father-In-law owned this my car for 40 years and always had JT Taylor, when I contacted them they said they DO NOT do "agreed value" and they were very restrictive on how the car was used....both deal breakers for me.
