Default Did Ford manufacture 1934 'open' cars itself?

I ask this question as I was reading the 1935-1936 Ford Restoration manual and it states that in these years other body manufacturers ie: Briggs etc made them for Ford. Also I've often wondered what the 'LB' stands for on the small model # plate on the firewall.

'LB' stands for LeBaron as in the LeBaron Division of the Murray Co. All of the '33-'34 open cars' bodies (and some of the closed car bodies as well along with all of the truck bodies) were manufactured by outside suppliers.

I think it has been pretty well established that if a EFV8 has a body tag on the firewall, the basic body shell was out-sourced from various vendors in lieu of being a Ford built body.

Other than commercial vehicle and truck bodies, which ranged from whole bodies to their component parts which Ford assembled, the passenger car bodies were painted and fully trimmed by the body builders when shipped to the assembly plants. The photo below shows a box car load of finished '34 phaeton bodies destined for an assembly plant.
