Default VIN Location on a '35-'37 "Big" Truck

Is the VIN in the same basic location, on the top of left frame rail, as on passenger cars and pickups? Is it located anywhere else?

I need to find it and get it right to apply for a duplicate title.

Thanks.

Clay

As I understand it was stamped into the top of the bell housing. You'd have to remove the transmission cover to see it. Stu

Legability is best on the trans flange and the best to get a tracing from as what NY wants. I have one with no numbers but most do, understand factory replacements were the only ones blank. Some big trucks have a data plate and include the VIN riveted inside the glove box door, but the ones I had were postwar, maybe not done early.

I just found my '36 BB number on the top of the frame near the steering box. It took a lot of scrubbing with a wire brush to find it. After you find it, rub with a white crayon to make it more legible. It will start out " BB18-xxxxxxx " with a star at each end.

Thanks. I thought that it would be in the same place as cars and p/us on the frame, but since they are sometimes hard to find even when you know where and what you are looking for, I thought I'd make sure. I'll use the trans stamping to help decipher and confirm the frame no., when I find it.

Here is some info from the HAMB on how to "raise" the chassis numbers if they are to faint to read.
