Default Re: Can paint be shipped

For the last 5 or 6 cars I have painted I have had paint, reducer, thinner and activator all shipped to me from both California and New Jersey (TCP global, Tamco). All the boxes had a "this side up" arrow and some orange triangle or something on the outside and metal cans had metal clips holding the lids on. I used to save the little metal clips, but I have never sent any paint out so I don't keep them anymore. With shipping included I can get the same products for 1/2 what the local automotive paint store charges. I know they need to make a profit, but doubling (or more) the price is too much on already expensive stuff.

I bought gals of Kirker primer, base coat, clear coat and activator and it came either UPS or Fedex, All gal. cans had special clips on the lid to keep the tops on and the screw on caps for the activator were taped with clear packaging tape.

Having been in the business of selling one shop sign enamel a business can ship it via common carrier when shipping it in bulk, as a individual I can't ship paint with Fed-X, UPS or USPS. according to their regulations paint is considered a hazardous material.

If you tell them what is in the box they will turn you down. HRP

I have shipped paint. USPS allows it via Ground Only. You have to declare it, and it gets labeled as such. Wasn’t difficult or expensive.
