Re: When was your 1st model A?
The Summer of 1964 I was just 15, had enough money saved up from my paper route and from working on my Dads model T roadster P/u with my grandfather;it was really a great feeling! A good friend (still a model A' guy) and I drover to Berwin Ill, where I bought my car - no drivers license - no insurance - no plates on the car - and we drove it all the way back home....... I kept it through high school & college, and finally sold that first car about the mid to late 80s. I still have fond memories of that and all the work I did on it myself and with my grandfather - what a guy !!!!!!!!!!!

Re: When was your 1st model A?
During the summer of '66 I bought a '29 Tudor for $250, just before my sophomore year in high school. It was solid and ran but not very well. After driving it down the alley, a bolt came off of the bendix spring. So I rebuilt the starter. The generator looked similar to the starter so I got and installed a rebuild kit in it. Then I was inquisitive about the motor and took it apart. Soon I was knee deep in Model A parts with no vehicle to drive.
If I knew then what I know now, I would have listened to my dad and just drove it, as is, and enjoyed it. |

Re: When was your 1st model A?
I got my 1931 two door sedan in 1964 when I was 15. Cost was $125.00. First picture is of my brother and I shortly after getting it home, and the second one is a little later after I "customized" it. I learned a lot and really enjoyed ridding around in it.

Re: When was your 1st model A?
I was a junior in high school in Long Beach, CA. While on the tarmac of the LB Airport, working at a summer job, a 1930 Model A four door sedan motored by.
It had a "For Sale" sign in the front window On its return trip, I hailed the driver down and found out it had a new engine and was in good shape. I spent my summer wages and drove the "Briggs" 155D my senior year and had a great time. I restored this car in 2000-2003 and the same engine is still running great! This was 1960, was $600 to much? |

Re: When was your 1st model A?
Age 49. I had wanted a Model T or Model A for about 40 years, but it took that long to finally get one.
