I'm seeing steel and aluminum price increases of as much as 60%. If you have been putting off a purchase of anything manufactured, buy it now before the increases get bigger.

Yes, I agree, even the prices of cutting tools and associated equipment are going crazy. The actions of government have been decisively negative.

Most of the time, governments can do little to influence world economic factors, although they always get the blame. We are coming, too quickly, out of a world wide shut down. Pent-up demand out-stripping supply. Prices rise. Basic supply and demand shift, but at a rapid pace right now.

My biggest problem is the fact that many shops have closed their doors forever. right now there are only two shops that do block boring and they are over 50 miles away. and crank grind ing is down in ct or mass. A simple job takes forever. i guess that's a good thing, you can save up the money to pay for it.

feel good Washington crap. What great crap....let's shut the pipe line down, put 1000's
out of work, a fill up before $38 now $55. Who can afford the $38 vs $55 the little guy

A friend of mine buys sheet metal for his shop and his prices have almost doubled in the past year.
I agree this should not be political but right now price increases are a political topic. As are availability. I'm not asking that his stays political but just explaining how easy it is to go there with this topic.

I agree with you. You can see right in this thread that people are blaming the politicians/government for our economic woes. And politicians loose elections over this; so if the politicians could make it all better, they would.

I'm no economist, but I still think my earlier, derided statement is not wrong: Most of the time, governments can do little to influence world economic factors

There have been examples where a blunt object applied in a sharp strike to the cranium have not been sufficient to awaken the thought process.

This is one reason that we need a "like button" as there is on the HAMB.
