Re: Question about por-15 putty or filler
My biggest concern with POR 15 is I've heard that it don't like other products over it. Such as other fillers,Primers or paints.I am going to need to prime (K36) seal and paint 2 stage. So far I'm leaning toward the JB Weld to for a 1'st coat let cure then scuff then a skim coat of metal to metal or even Kitty hair for any inconsistencies b-4 I prime.

Re: Question about por-15 putty or filler
We're all at a bit of a disadvantage here not bein able to see the bad spot, but, I'm not so sure I would try to trowel some M to M over the JB-Weld cause I don't know if that thin layer of M to M will hold to the epoxy.
If it were me, I would start with a green-coat of JB-weld over the bad spot, sand down flush and fill in as needed with another little batch of JB-Weld over it and give a final smooth out. Primer then overcoat. But you use your best judgement. |

Re: Question about por-15 putty or filler
Barners,
I used All-Metal many years ago with good results. As a test, I mixed up a batch and set a chunk aside to harden. After it was completely dry, I threw it into a bucket of water. Water did NOT affect it or soften it. So if you use it to fill holes, just make sure the metal in the area is primered and sealed. Milt K from Pa |

Re: Question about por-15 putty or filler
Thanks for that info. Milt. My biggest concern would be having moisture wick through a filler. In my research the last few days I found that Evercoat has a product called Fiber Tech (100633) that they recommend for welded areas and supposedly waterproof. I think it is an improved version of the old Durabond but not sure. Reading reviews on Fiber Tech it has good reviews.
