The Ford Barn

I am helping to put together a program on the Model A Ford. The question came up as to how many Model A Fords survived today.

Does any one have a good estimate as to how many Model A's are still around?

I would think the number is in the hundreds of thousands. I would doubt if it is a million or more.

Last I heard, around 200,000. But that may not be counting those hidden In the barns, and in the tall weeds. There were over 5 million A's produced between late 1927 and early 1932, and known as 1928-1931 Fords.. Best of luck with your presentation.

does that 2oo,ooo # include hot rodded A's or just the stock ones?

This comes up every so often....there are two sources: registrations and insurance companies. Someday, somebody will do a project using these sources to get a semi-actuate count of how many drivable A's there are in the USA.

Sorry but in reality, "a good estimate" cannot be made. There are barn finds every week.

200,000 has been published several times so no one can prove it incorrect, go with that.

I know it is true -
I saw it on the internet !

You can triple that number if you count all the Model A's that have been chopped up or otherwise butchered and made into "hot rods"

May be a better estimate would be to take the count of 'ROADWORTHY' Model A's country by country.....here in NZ my estimate would be about 400...
