'33 hydrostatic after 2-day vinegar submerge. Generally composed of rust; not metal; light brush'g w/a toothbrush, it went right through. The hex is clean, the copper wire is still soldered in place

With something that marginal, I would hace tried Evaporust. Vinegar is an acid, however weak, that will attack the base metal as well as the rust. Evaporust will not.

It looks like it was a lost cause, but I always start with the least aggressive method first.

Thanks again. This apple cider vinegar soak was an uneducated 'experiment' as this unit was/is in past-saving condition. I'll ring him.

I had a gauge listed in the swap meet section dated 2/14/23. It’s in very good shape. Still have it.

Perhaps he wasn't looking at the time.Click on his user ID"highbeams" on his post and send him a PM or email . I just looked at it,pretty rough IMO.He would have to figure out how to remove his brass hex w/sight glass tube and install it in what you have. The one I told him about is at least intact but whether or not the line is clear will have to be determined.
