Jim:

Not sure how much time you have and if you got a good 'ol parts store in town, but my guy lets me look around all the hoses he has in stock. I always find ones that will work and, as luck will have it, they are generally for some lowly old Buick or some other vehicle and cheap.

Why or how so? I'd assume they are just a distributor, no?

Rock Auto "sucks" is a useless statement. Back it up with facts so we can all learn something maybe we didn't know. Most of the time I buy modern parts from Rock Auto, and the price is usually way better, including shipping, than NAPA, and you have the choice of OEM type or other parts mfg for the same parts. They used to be higher and slower on shipping, but they got the lead out, and lowered the cost.

You'll notice that on many items they list an "economy" version, a "daily driver" version, and a "premium" version. You gets what you pays for!

I think "Rock Auto" is great. Every year in January, they have clearance items that are pennies on the dollar; obsolete stuff they are just clearing out. Luckily for me, most of my vehicles are obsolete. For example, right now, I am re-installing the heads on my '67 Corvette after the valve seals were replaced. I have all the gaskets I need (head gaskets, intake gaskets, valve cover gaskets, etc.). I got them all on close out at Rock Auto a couple of years ago. I doubt if I have $20 in all the gaskets I need. And, they are all Fel-Pro in the original factory packaging. Rock Auto knows what kind of cars I have and send me list of closeouts every January. For very little money invested, I have tons of spares; 8BA ignition parts (the good old American stuff), gasket sets, starter brushes and bushings and on and on and on.

Also, like "40 Deluxe" says, you can "pick and choose" the quality level of most parts you need. I have not seen that with any other source. Granted, the premium parts are more expensive than the "price leaders", but almost always, they are cheaper than anywhere else. That "Rock Auto sucks" attitude will only cost you in the long run. I don''t understand where it comes from.

I also found Rock Auto a good supplier with good prices.

No offense, but unsubstantiated comments do nothing to add to the discussion, not to mention giving unwarranted bad ratings to a good business.

Rock Auto has a lot of older stock that is american made. Purchased a lot of brake parts at very low prices, around a tenth of the current off shore prices. Hard to beat!

Ha, at my "old" place they always let me roam around back when I'm looking for something the computer can't identify, pretty cool of them (I'm not hanging out long, if they got it great. Most times they might bring you back and then get bored quick and say.. look around. Hope I don't get anyone in trouble now ). Just a standard autozone. I've seen short flex hoses there. Would probably work for what you need, if they have them.

Them make them shorter then the picture.

Off topic. I bought some electric window motors and channels for my 06 f150 from Rock Auto. Good stuff, no complaints, saved me a few hundred over going to the dealership and having them do it.

I always wondered about Rock Auto. Very helpful to get some reviews. They had a clutch plate I am interested in.

I’ve bought alot of stuff from Rock Auto, for newer vehicles and classics. No complaints yet. I check their price first and decide if I can wait for the part or pay more at NAPA...Mark
