Default 33/34 Phaeton owner who is willing to help wanted

Hello all,

I'm hoping to start restoring my 1933 Phaeton in Sri Lanka soon.

I'm now gaining knowledge about the car and what wrong things have been done to it in the past and trying to collect parts needed to correct every thing back to how they should be.

I'm hoping to get in touch with someone who owns a 33/34 Phaeton who will be happy to help with information, photos and measurements from their car.

Thank You
CJ

I've a '33 phaeton where we replaced all of the wood in the body. It was done correctly and I'd be happy to provide any photos that may be of help to you. Unfortunately, the body, while still without any covering of the wood on the inside, is painted black Which compromises the details of any photos that I may take. Please send me a p.m. if you are still interested, notwithstanding.

A sample is shown below.

Ooh Thank you !!

These photos are great !

I need to get a good look at the rear of a Phaeton.

Mine has had additional sheet metal welded on where that cut in the body is at the back... for the fabric top

How come the left and right front doors are different ?

One has that metal strap diagonally and the other has a wooden support horizontally.

Is that how they are supposed to be ?

I removed the door board from my front right door and found it has the horizontal wooden piece

The doors are the same except for being left and right. That car is partially restored and not finished.Do not be confused.

The front doors should have both the horizontal wood piece and the diagonal steel strap. None of the three different front doors in deuce lover's photo are complete in that regard (in the case of mine, the black one, the diagonal steel strap will be added shortly). The rear doors originally had neither the horizontal wood piece nor a steel strap.

As for the rear of the body, the attached photo is all I have on this computer and as indicated in my earlier response, being painted black much detail is lost.

Tub Section of Australian 1933 Ford Phaeton.
On Australia 1933 and 1934 Fords, this section of Floor is the only part that is Steel. The rest is Wood.

Wood on inside of Australian 1934 Ford Phaeton front Door.
Notice that the Metal Strap is flat on Australian 1933 and 1934 Fords, unlike the Strap on American open cars which has a strengthening crease down the middle.
This car belongs top my brother and he has replaced the Wooden Floor with Steel. He has also strengthened the panel between teh "B" Pillars with a Pipe. You can see the end in this picture.

ceejay's Right Hand Drive 1933 Ford Phaeton ex Sri Lanka.
As you can see it has the North American Body, not the very different Australian Body.
