Farmer fix Volt drop?
Just picked up a '28 Special Coupe that's been sitting for a few years and this looks to be the old owners attempt at using a starter Bendix spring for a volt drop from 12 V to 6 or? Always interesting when you pick up a new A!

Re: Farmer fix Volt drop?
If I had that on my A, I would get dinged at the annual safety check. Yes, very interesting.

Re: Farmer fix Volt drop?
It's heavy enough that it won't act as much of a voltage drop.
It would be interesting to put your volt meter across each end of the spring to measure the actual voltage drop. |

Re: Farmer fix Volt drop?
This is or was done a lot with Model T starters when going from 6 to 12 volts to help prevent the bendix from slamming into the flywheel.

Re: Farmer fix Volt drop?
Looks like an early version of a flux capacitor.
