Default Zenith carberater

I’m trying to set the float on a zenith according to Les Andres book the float is supposed to be 1 inch & you’re supposed to set them by the washers under the valves . Mine measures about 1& 1/16th with no washers at all under valve. They say not to bend the float. What are you supposed to do then

Was the float bent prior to you working on it?

Randy,

there are float needle valves with different installation lengths.
With sensitivity, you can adjust the float on the sheet metal.

Tom Endy covers setting the fuel level in this technical article.

Several things can affect the float level setting.

There are some foreign aftermarket floats that are too big and will cause the condition you describe. Recently I tried using a foreign aftermarket float and had the same circumstance. Ended up using a different float and got rid of the foreign aftermarket one. Get the USA made ones if you can.

Try running the vehicle w/the 1-1/16" setting and see how it reforms, it might be fine.
