Re: National Drive Your V-8 Day, 6/18/22 !!
I nearly missed the day but hope to get the Merc out this afternoon for a short drive. Supposed to be in the 80s with high heat index humidity so I won't be going too far with it. I was already out this week on the 15th for a few pictures.

Gorgeous day here in south east Michigan. Just got back from a 2 1/2 hour ride in the country side with my wife and best friend.

Re: National Drive Your V-8 Day, 6/18/22 !!
Crap. I spent the whole morning waxing the '51, and when I went to my birthday party, it rained BUCKETS. I didn't get caught out in it,, but the air must be really dirty up here, because the car is now covered in dirty spots.
Back to the grind again. |

Re: National Drive Your V-8 Day, 6/18/22 !!
My outing for the day:
My car was running rough - seemed like one cylinder not firing properly. I checked it out this morning and found one wire loose at the crab distributor. Having fixed this, I went out for a long test drive. My destination was Kelly Motor Corp, in Perry NY. I saw a thread on the barn about this place last year, and wanted to see it for myself. It is a genuine old-fashioned car dealership that is still in business. They have a great Ford neon sign on the front corner of the building, above where the gas pumps obviously used to be. My car ran great for the two hour ride, including going up some really steep hills in Warsaw, NY, where they have had some big truck wrecks in the past. |

Took the '38/8BA for it's National Drive Your V8 Day drive this afternoon. A fun drive around our unincorporated community. 97 degrees and dew point of 72 degrees. The V8 stayed cooler than I did.

Re: National Drive Your V-8 Day, 6/18/22 !!
Looks like today won't be my day to drive. It was so hot this afternoon at 90 degrees, humidity way up too. I worked a bit in the shop on the Merc with the doors closed as it was cooler in there. Then heavy overcast skies ruined the view so I could not get inspired to take the Merc out. Good thing I did 3 days ago when the weather and scenery were perfect.

A shoutout of THANKS to Petehoovie for enlarging everyone’s photos especially for those of us that are too lazy to learn how to do it ourselves.

Re: National Drive Your V-8 Day, 6/18/22 !!
Out and about for Drive Your V-8 Day. Perfect sunny day, about 80 mile trek in west Marin County (SF Bay Area north of the Golden Gate Bridge)-lovely drive with my wife Colleen, tried not to think about the $6.59/gallon California gas
First photo is next to Old St Mary's Church in the small town of Nicasio, the others at a view point overlooking the Pacific above the town of Stinson Beach Hope you all had great drives! Adam
