Default tires

Hello,
I need help and not really interested in why I should not have whitewall tires, but but I do have them and I like them on this car.
My problem is I have 6 new goodyear whitewall tires on my sedan and after only 6 months they are yellow!!! I clean them and after a week they are yellow again. Anyone have any suggestions? AND I CAN DO WITHOUT SMART ASS REMARKS PLEASE!!

Mine have been on my car for over a year and haven't yellowed yet, But when I had whitewalls on cars years past I used to use sos or brillo to clean them.

Simple Green, Oxi-Clean or Clorox spray and a scrub pad. Keep Armorall off.

Mike,
i thought i remember reading about an issue with the rubber material on certain tires causing them to yellow again quickly
try calling kelsey tire they may have some info
they are a goodyear distributor

I had a car with new whitewalls that yellowed like that. The best product to keep them white was Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser with water. No bleach or chemicals. I think Magic Eraser is working like fine sandpaper and removing the top layer of yellowed tire.

Henry Ford and I love whitewalls -- especially on Roadsters. The haters have a Depression Era mentality. That said, 31 Model A has it right. Simple Green works great!

I've heard that some whitewalls just yellow but if you use a light coat of tire paint on them it will keep them white. Here is some offered on ebay. I have not used it, would be worth a try. http://www.ebay.com/itm/WHITE-WALL-T...a2e9a4&vxp=mtr
By the way...I like whitewalls, I am just not willing for all the work to keep them looking nice!

I seem to recall that when most cars had whitewall tires, we used a brass brush to clean the whitewalls, (or SOS Pads). Not sure if the brass had some reaction or what to help keep the whitewalls brighter longer... Perhaps worth trying.

Sometimes the yellowing is a result of the chemicals leaching through the whitewall, or from leaning the black from another tire against the whitewall. You can't get rid of it permanently. Westley's Bleche-White will help, but it's ALWAYS going to come back.

Mike , sorry to hear you have yellowing on your Goodyears. I have been running these ww tire since 2000 and this is my 3rd set I have put on my tudor. I avg about 38,000 per set of tires and have never had any yellowing as of yet on any of them. I usually run about 1200 miles per month and wash my tires only about twice a month, live in south Louisiana so i run many miles in wet weather.I have always used westleys wite wall spray cleaner and also put a little comet on the tire brush . This cleans very well BUT I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY YELLOWING. I run Firestone on roadster and they do not yellow. I have 2 friends in our club and one runs cooker tires and his will yellow every month, we can't figure out why this happens. Have fun modelAtony tony white Lafayette, LA

I have the same problem with my Firestones. I contacted the tire manufacturer and they told me it is oils leaching from the black rubber from the back side. I end up cleaning the white walls about twice a month or they will turn a golden brown. No good answer for a cleaner, but I was told not to use any bleach product as that will dry out the rubber and cause premature cracking
