Using 'marker' lights for front/back turn signals 6v.
Anyone have experience using 12 volt marker/side lights and converting the bulbs to 6v and using as turn signals & brake lights ?
Thinking of trying them but dont know if there are 6v bulbs that will replace the 12 v ones and fit the socket. Seems there are no 6v marker/side lights out there for sale any more, so i would have to convert 12 to 6v. Not going to use 12v led, as they dont work well on 6v power. Any ideas or knowledge about how to do it or which size 6v bulbs might fit appreciated. Thanks for looking, Jerbo |

I went to a local truck shop and looked over the offerings and settled on some round ones that are about 2 1/4" in diameter. Chrome plated with orange lenses. While I was there I took one apart to see the bulb type and was able to get 6 v bulbs at another store. Sanded the chrome well and painted them black. They have been on my car as turn signals for 10 years or more. The car is a '25 Monel T but should work well on an A. Find a good truck stop store and you'll be pleased at the big inventory. Bill

Napa has what I think are called 'bee hive' marker lights for trucks. They are already painted black and have an L shaped bracket on them. A single filament 6 volt stop light bulb will just fit in the housing. I have them on my Coupe and they work fine. I have them fastened to the trunk rack in the rear and use the cowl lights in the front.

The ones posted by 29spcoupe "used to" have glass lenses, nowadays they have (ugh) plastic lenses.
My CCPU doesn't have cowl lights so I use that type for front signal lights.

jerbo, I used marker lights like these on the rear of my Town Sedan. I think they look more "era correct". Clear lens, RED LED for back.

A couple of my friends have used little teardrop lights like these they got from our local Harley Davidson shop. Red in the back Amber in the front. Easy to convert to LED if so desired.

Not the best picture in the world, but it is what it is.
